The House majority is focused on trimming spending, except for defense.
Representative Rich McCormick of Georgia said this week that legislators are grappling with “hard decisions” during ongoing budget negotiations.
“We’re going to have to have some hard decisions. We got to… talk about Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare. There’s hundreds of billions of dollars to be saved, and we know how to do it, we just have to have the stomach to actually take those challenges on,” Congressman McCormick said.
House minority members have proposed cuts to the U.S. defense budget instead, which is the next largest expense after welfare programs. Representative McCormick stated he’s “not a big fan of that.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for members of Congress as they assess the national budget and areas to trim expenses.
- For the president and administration officials as they continue to promote their agenda as the current term comes to a close.
