He returns to his mayoral hometown to review local investments.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg met with union workers and apprentices in South Bend, Indiana on Thursday, touching base with the town where he served as mayor for eight years.
The secretary spoke at the South Bend Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee 153, where he highlighted the investments made by the Transportation Department during President Biden’s administration, rail improvements, electric vehicle manufacturing, and a $2.5 million infrastructure planning grant were all examples.
“So this is, I think, a testament to how local and federal leadership can work together,” Secretary Buttigieg said. “And while I know a lot of things are about to change in Washington, I also know that the importance of this work will not change and the need for skilled work will not change.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Buttigieg as he assesses the progress his department has made during the past four years.
- For Transportation Department officials as they prepare for the change in administration.
- For wisdom for the president-elect and his nominees as they prepare to take office.
