Jared Moskowitz
U.S. Representative for Florida
Jared Evan Moskowitz was born in December 1980 in Coral Springs, Florida. He earned an undergraduate degree in political science from George Washington University and received his Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. He worked as an intern for Vice President Al Gore.
Moskowitz spent six years as a member of the Florida House of Representatives. He was named by Governor Ron DeSantis to be a director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, a position he assumed in 2019. He was named to the Broward County Commission. Moskowitz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, assuming office in January 2023.
He is married to Leah Rifkin. Moskowitz is Jewish.

Representative Jared Moskowitz of Florida has become a member of the Congressional Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus.
Representative Moskowitz stated, “I will join the Congressional DOGE Caucus, because I believe that streamlining government processes and reducing ineffective government spending should not be a partisan issue. I’ve been clear that there are ways we can reorganize our government to make it work better for the American people.”
The congressman identified the Department of Homeland Security as something to trim, saying it “has gotten too big.“
“The Caucus should look at the bureaucracy that DHS has become and include recommendations to make Secret Service and FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency] independent federal agencies with a direct report to the White House,” said Representative Moskowitz, who was previously director of emergency management in Florida. “It’s not practical to have 22 agencies under this one department. I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner with my colleagues to remove FEMA and Secret Service from DHS.”
