O Lord, come! – 1 Corinthians 16:22
Maranatha!
As the world starts its celebration of the birth of the Baby Jesus, faithful Christians boldly look for Christ’s Second Advent. To that end, the prayer of today’s verse is used: Maranatha. The Aramaic word has been counted as a prayer for the return of Jesus. For those who love Him, it is a beautiful plea; but for those who do not know Him, it could be a fearful declaration. As you utter those words during this season of Advent, remember the promise of Revelation 22:20, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”
