Senator Says ICE Deportation Plan is Federal Responsibility

The incoming border czar highlighted the harboring of illegals as a felony.

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla of California said state law enforcement is not legally required to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation operations in response to President-elect Trump’s pledge to impose legal action against states that do not aid in federal mass deportations.

Senator Padilla claimed, “No state government, not Texas, not California, not any state in the nation has a constitutional authority to impose federal immigration law that is the responsibility of the federal government.” He said that states, like Texas, are free to willingly assist the future administration, but re-emphasized that, legally speaking, “there’s no obligation to do so.”

However, incoming Border Czar Tom Homan recently warned the mayors and governors providing sanctuary to illegals, “Review Title 8 U.S.C. § 1324 – It’s a felony to harbor illegal aliens. Don’t cross that line.” He said has said the new administration will conduct “the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen.“ He indicated during an interview that states that do not cooperate will likely lose federal funding.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for senators and representatives in Congress as they respond to the incoming administration’s plans to address illegal immigrants.
  • For Tom Homan as he prepares to oversee Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportations.
