District Attorney Bragg supported postponing the sentencing date.
New York Judge Juan Merchan, presiding over the business records case against now-President-elect Donald Trump, has delayed sentencing indefinitely. Sentencing had already been delayed twice, and now would be pushed back until January 2029, once President Trump is no longer holding executive office.
Judge Merchan wrote, “On November 19, 2024, this Court received separate submissions from Defendant and the District Attorney of New York County… seeking various forms of relief in connection with the above-captioned matter. ‘The respective applications are decided as follows: It is hereby ordered, that Defendant’s request for leave to file a motion to dismiss pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law… is granted.”
The judge’s order continued that motions to dismiss are due from Trump’s attorneys by December 2 and the district attorney’s response by December 9.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President-elect Trump and his advisors as they assess and appoint officials to the upcoming administration.
- For wisdom for judges presiding over lawsuits brought against President Trump.
