The guidance offers risk management strategies for private companies, local governments.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently announced new guidelines for using artificial intelligence (AI) within utility systems. The guidelines were developed with the department’s advisory group on AI Intelligence Safety and Security, advising private companies and governmental agencies on how to protect both user privacy and physical security while implementing the new technology.
“We intend the framework to be, frankly, a living document and to change as developments in the industry change as well.” Secretary Mayorkas said. When asked if the framework will carry over into the coming administration, the DHS secretary made it clear that the document is an initiative of President Biden’s administration.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Mayorkas as he manages the Department of Homeland Security.
- For DHS and other federal officials as they determine guidance for implementing AI to protect national security.
