Deputy national security advisor cites North Korean troops joining Russia’s side for policy change.
On Sunday, President Joe Biden reversed his administration’s ban on Ukraine’s use of Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATCAMS), U.S. long-range missiles, to attack further into Russian territory. Some U.S. officials have been advocating for the approval, which Ukrainian President Zelensky has requested for some time.
Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer cited the addition of 10,000 North Korean troops to Russian forces as “a significant Russian escalation that involves the deployment of a foreign country’s forces on its own territory. The United States has been clear that we would respond to that. We’ve been clear to the Russians that we would respond to that.”
Since the Pentagon would need to provide Ukraine with assistance to launch the ATCAMS, President Vladimir Putin of Russia stated this would constitute America’s direct involvement in the war. President Putin’s spokesman said the U.S. is “adding fuel to the fire.“

- For the president and Pentagon officials in their approach to the support of Ukraine.
- For wisdom and insight for U.S. officials who are advocating for the use of U.S. long-range missiles against Russia.
