NHTSA Investigating 1.4 Million Honda and Acura Engines

A fire and 1,450 warranty claims prompt the investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a probe into a wide range of Honda and Acura vehicles this week based on complaints that the vehicles’ 3.5-liter V6 engines are faulty.

The engines’ connecting rod bearings, which connect the engine pistons to the crankshaft, generate the motion necessary for the vehicle’s wheels to move. Because Honda and Acura 3.5-liter V6 engine rods have repeatedly failed, the NHTSA has documented 173 complaints of total engine failure in the vehicles made with this engine.

There has been no catastrophic failure recorded yet, but the NHTSA was also alerted by 1,450 similar warranty claims and one report of an engine fire. The NHTSA has a full list of vehicle models under investigation on its website.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For NHTSA officials as they investigate the failures in the Honda and Toyota engines.
  • For Acting Administrator Sophie Shulman as she oversees the NHTSA.
