In the News…

Senators Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut requested documents and information from TikTok last month related to child safety. In a letter to CEO Shou Zi Chew, the legislators followed up on reports that the social media firm is aware of the potential harms to children from the app.

The two senators co-sponsored the Kids Online Safety Act this summer, which the Senate passed but the House did not take up.

Fourteen separate state lawsuits have been filed against the app’s firm.

Separately, Senator Blackburn was recently joined by Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa in requesting information on the social media company’s censorship of pro-women content.
