Issue 673 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The Pentagon reported that two U.S. Navy destroyers were able to repel the attacks of Houthis as they entered the Gulf of Aden this week. The Yemen-based rebels launched missiles and drones at the American vessels as they transited the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, but the destroyers were not damaged, and no crew were injured.

Pray for protection for U.S. military personnel deployed around the globe.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

President Biden’s administration intends “to focus our efforts on ensuring that Ukraine has the money, the munitions and the mobilized forces to fight effectively in 2025 or to be able to negotiate a peace from a position of strength,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a trip to Brussels.

Pray for the president and his administration as they continue to support Ukraine against Russia.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Secretary Blinken has called for an extended pause in the Gaza war so that humanitarian aid can be distributed to residents who need it. He said, “Israel, by the standards it set itself, has accomplished the goals that it set for itself. This should be a time to end the war.”

Pray for U.S. officials to be prudent as they assess the actions of Israel against Hamas and Hezbollah.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Food and Drug Administration required Costco to recall nearly 80,000 pounds of butter because the packaging lacked milk allergen information. While the ingredients of both the salted and unsalted Kirkland Signature brand included “cream,” the label did not include “contains milk”

Pray for wisdom for FDA and CDC officials as they assess risks to public health.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Idaho Governor Brad Little and Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield announced the executive order the Phone Free Learning Act. The act encourages schools to restrict the use of cell phones during the school day. “Research has shown that phones have changed our kids’ brains and that their presence in the classroom makes learning more difficult,” Superintendent Critchfield said.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced a plan to overhaul the state’s employee payment plan. The governor said, “We took the existing pay plan down to its studs to rebuild a compensation system that rewards hard work and encourages Arkansans to apply to our most hard-to-fill positions.“

For state governors and other officials as they seek to improve their education and employment prospects.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“The word ‘apostolos,’ which is translated back in Romans 1 as ‘apostle,’ means a sent one, a commissioned one, a dispatched one. A messenger, an ambassador, or an envoy. And, by the way, in those days, they called certain boats ‘apostolic boats,‘ and apostolic boats were not boats that carried apostles. It had a secular use. An apostolic boat was a cargo ship, that was dispatched with a cargo for another city. And so it meant anything dispatched or sent. And Paul is saying, ‘I am sent, but my being sent is not a self-made decision.‘ … In the Reformed Pastor by Richard Baxter in 1650… he says, ‘Before you keep preaching, you better go back and find out if you’re redeemed.‘ … You better be sure God has sent you.“ John MacArthur, Grace to You, November 2024
