Officials provide an overview of federal actions taken between 2021 and 2023.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released its progress report on addressing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the United States, compiling data from several federal agencies into an overview of common ailments.
The department first launched its strategic plan at the beginning of President Biden’s administration, outlining its 2021-2025 goals to reduce STIs. The report documents the department’s progress between 2021-2023, with seven indicators close to meeting their target. The seven other indicators have stagnated or moved away from their annual targets, six of which relate to addressing syphilis.
“These data serve as a call to action for continued collaboration in our national response to STIs,” said Assistant Secretary Levine. “Through education, awareness, and increased access to care, we can improve outcomes of syphilis, and other STIs, and safeguard the health of communities across our nation.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That Assistant Secretary Levine and HHS officials are discerning in their approach to STIs.
- For Secretary Becerra to be led by the Lord as he oversees the federal health agencies.
