COP29 Focuses on Rich Nations Paying for Poor Nations to Reduce Carbon Emissions

Negotiations estimate up to $1.3 trillion per year needed to assist developing nations.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11-22. Negotiators are discussing the amounts that rich nations should pay to assist developing countries address climate change.

The U.S. has sent a delegation that includes officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

“The urgency of addressing the impacts of climate change has never been clearer,” said NOAA Administrator and Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere Rick Spinrad. “Together with the global community, we are committed to advancing science and partnerships that drive climate solutions, safeguarding our communities and fostering a sustainable future for all.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for U.S. officials as they consider the proposals to fund developing nations’ efforts to address climate.
  • For Administrator Spinrad to seek God’s guidance as he heads the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
