The man allegedly offered to pass information on the U.S. military to Chinese intelligence.
The German government arrested a U.S. citizen on suspicions of communicating with Chinese intelligence, the federal prosecutor’s office said. Under German privacy laws, the man arrested was only identified as Martin D.
The accused had worked for U.S. armed forces in Germany until recently. He allegedly attempted to contact Chinese state workers earlier this year, offering to share sensitive information on the U.S. military.
The German government has warned of an increase in Chinese intelligence operations in 2024. Three Germans were arrested in April for allegedly conspiring to hand over navy technology, and a European Union staffer was arrested on similar charges.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For U.S. military leaders as they seek to ensure the security of intelligence information.
- For U.S. allies as they assist in the endeavor to prevent the sharing of military technology information with China.
