Treasury Sanctions Network Connected to President of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The official has been accumulating wealth through patronage networks.

The Department of the Treasury sanctioned an organization and an individual on Wednesday for supporting a patronage network connected to a president in Bosnia and Herzegovina. President Milorad Dodik, who oversees the country’s Republika Srpska (RS), was designated by the Treasury for accumulating personal wealth through companies linked to himself. This most recent action curbs another way that President Dodik attempted to curtail U.S. financial sanctions.

“RS President Milorad Dodik, his associates, and his enablers continue to use their privileged position to erode public confidence in the regional peace frameworks and institutions that have brought stability and security to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Acting Under Secretary Bradley Smith of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. “The United States remains committed to exposing the efforts of Dodik and his family to maintain their corrupt patronage networks.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Under Secretary Smith as he oversees the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
  • For Secretary Yellen to seek God’s direction as she heads the Treasury Department.
  • For U.S. State and Treasury Department officials as they seek to apply pressure to foreign individuals and entities through sanctions.
