The initiative supports early-stage food retail projects to strengthen local access to affordable, nutritious foods.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), in collaboration with the Reinvestment Fund, is directing nearly $6 million toward enhancing healthy food options in underserved regions through the Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) Planning Grant Program.
“No matter where you live in our country, you should be able to get affordable, fresh, and healthy food close to home,“ said Deputy Secretary Torres Small. “USDA is working with farmers and ranchers, food retailers, and other stakeholders to strengthen the local and regional food systems we all count on.”
The deputy secretary also expressed the USDA’s commitment to creating resilient food systems by partnering with farmers, ranchers, and food retailers under the American Rescue Plan Act.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Deputy Secretary Torres Small to be led by God as she facilitates the Healthy Food Financing Initiative.
- For Secretary Vilsack and USDA officials as they provide programs that support farming and ranching.
