Education Secretary Announces $19 Million for Hispanic-Serving Institutions

Funding will strengthen research facilities in Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Puerto Rico.

Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recently announced $19 million in grants for Hispanic-Serving Institutions, timing his announcement with the signing of President Joe Biden’s executive order for educational equity. This grant funding will help five Hispanic research facilities in Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Puerto Rico support their research facilities and improve their graduate and doctoral programs.

“If we want America to remain the most competitive economy in the world, then we need our Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities, and other Minority-Serving Institutions to be on the cutting-edge of research and development,” said Secretary Cardona. He added that supporting these diverse institutions will “drive innovation, forge new partnerships, and prepare their students for success in today’s fastest-growing fields.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Cardona to be led by the Lord as he heads the Education Department.
  • For U.S. education officials as they seek to facilitate equity in education.
