Officials uncertain whether the source was a government worker or a foreign hacker.
The FBI announced that they have begun investigating the leak of two highly classified government documents last week outlining a potential strategy for Israel to strike Iran directly with missiles.
“The FBI is investigating the alleged leak of classified documents and working closely with our partners in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community,” the bureau stated.
The two documents were leaked on the social media platform Telegram, making satellite imagery and internal capabilities of both the U.S. and Israeli military known to the public. President Biden’s administration is uncertain whether the documents were leaked internally or distributed by an external hacking operation.
“We’re not exactly sure how these documents found their way into the public domain,” White House spokesman John Kirby said. “The president remains deeply concerned about any leakage of classified information into the public domain. That is not supposed to happen, and it’s unacceptable when it does.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and administration officials as they seek to restore the recently strained relationship with Israel.
- For FBI investigators as they seek to determine the source of the leaked classified documents.
