Pharmaceutical Companies Request Recusal of FTC Chair from Insulin Case

They claim she and other commissioners are prejudiced against pharmaceutical companies.

This week, the top three pharmaceutical companies in the United States requested that Lina Khan, chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), recuse herself from an FTC lawsuit alleging that the companies unlawfully inflated insulin prices. They requested that commissioners Rebecca Kelly Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya recuse themselves as well.

CVS, Signa, and UnitedHealth said that the three commissioners showcased bias against pharmaceutical companies when they attended a National Community Pharmacist Association event in 2022, a gathering for independent pharmacists.

The filing stated, “Event participants wore anti-PBM paraphernalia, including pins that vilified PBMs as ‘bloodsuckers’ and shirts depicting PBMs as vampires.”

The FTC has not commented on the filling.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FTC Chair Khan and the two commissioners to have integrity regarding their stance on the pharmaceutical industry.
  • For wisdom for federal judges as they hear cases brought by and against the federal government.
