Today, President Joe Biden is hosting Taoiseach Simon Harris of Ireland to commemorate a century of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
A planned reception in the White House Rose Garden will be rescheduled. A White House spokesperson said the president and taoiseach decided, “given the grave threat posed in the United States by Hurricane Milton, they would postpone the reception in the Rose Garden until a later date. The Taoiseach will proceed with all other parts of his programme in Washington.”
Hurricane Milton has been traveling through the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 5 storm with reported winds of up to 180 mph. It is forecast to make landfall on the west coast of Florida later today.
