DHS has prioritized domestic terrorism.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently invested $210 million to increase protections for faith-based institutions warding off targeted attacks against their communities.
Domestic terror attacks against Jewish and Islamic worshipers in the United States have increased since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began a year ago. This funding, distributed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will allow these and other faith-based communities to purchase security cameras, access control systems, and safety training programs for their staff.
“Now, when we continue to live in a heightened threat environment, the security-enhancing grant funds we provide to non-profit organizations are more critical than ever,” said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “We urge eligible institutions to apply for these potentially life-saving funds. We are grateful to Congress for making them available.”
