China, Russia, and Iran remain the greatest global adversaries.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published its annual threat assessment report, predicting that the United States will be most threatened by domestic fallout from the 2024 presidential election and continually heightening tensions in the Middle East throughout 2025.
The report concluded, “We are particularly concerned about a confluence of factors this year, including violent extremist responses to domestic sociopolitical developments — especially the 2024 election cycle — and international events that domestic and foreign violent extremists likely will use to justify or encourage attacks.”
Other assessments from the report fell in line with concerns previously voiced by U.S. intelligence; Russia, China, and Iran will likely continue their attempts to undermine U.S. functionality by targeting critical infrastructure and election cycles.

- For Secretary Mayorkas as he heads the Department of Homeland Security.
- For U.S. intelligence leaders as they gather and disseminate information to governing officials.
