Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough sent out a reminder to department staff regarding veteran records privacy after employees improperly accessed the medical files of vice presidential candidates Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The Justice Department is conducting an investigation into the matter.
Pray for U.S. governing officials as they seek to ensure compliance with privacy regulations within their departments.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas introduced the Counter Secretary Negligence In Protecting Election Runners (SNIPER) Act after two separate assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life. The legislation would require the Department of Homeland Security to document for Congress any denial of any protection for presidential candidates. The position of Secret Service director would also become a Senate-confirmed role.
Pray for U.S. senators as they seek to ensure Secret Service protections for the presidential candidates.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
Before the October recess, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington, marked up and approved the AM Radio in Every Vehicle Act for advancement to the House floor. The legislation would require that all vehicles produced or sold in the United States to include AM radio as a safety feature without additional charge.
Pray for the chairs and members of committees as they evaluate the resources in automobiles that enhance public safety.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A federal judge halted the investigation of vote harvesting by the state of Texas. He ruled the part of a state law was unconstitutional due to being vague and restricting free speech. Under the law, those compensated for providing or offering vote harvesting services were committing a third-degree felony.
Pray for wisdom for judges at all levels of the federal judiciary as they made decisions that impact the upcoming election.
