293 Hydroelectric Projects Receive $430 Million from DOE

The investment will upgrade hydropower facilities that have operated for 79 years.

The Department of Energy announced that 33 states will receive $430 million to upgrade hydroelectric facilities. Hydropower accounts for 27 percent of renewable energy generation in the United States, but the sector’s aging infrastructure needs repair and modernization. This funding will improve 215 hydroelectric buildings and dams, which have all been in operation for a combined average of 79 years.

“As our earliest form of renewable energy generation, hydropower has reliably kept America running for almost 150 years—and the Biden-Harris Administration is ensuring these long-standing facilities can continue the steady flow of clean power,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “Today’s funding will expand and modernize our hydropower fleet, while protecting thousands of American jobs.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary Granholm as she heads the Department of Energy.
  • For U.S. energy officials to be prudent in their investments in energy infrustructure.
