FMCSA provides grants to 27 colleges and CDL programs.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced nearly $3.5 million in grants to 27 colleges and Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training programs through the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMVOST) Grant Program. The funding is intended to enhance roadway safety by offering additional training to current CDL holders and creating new opportunities for careers in the commercial driving sector.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said, “The funding we’re announcing today is an important part of this Administration’s Trucking Action Plan to strengthen America’s supply chains and support the workers who keep our economy moving.”
The CMVOST program seeks to expand safety training for CDL holders, support veterans and their families in joining the trucking and busing industries, and increase access to training for rural, refugee, and underserved communities.
“We are proud to make this funding available, and are committed to working with the awardees to put it to good use, making it easier for drivers to enter into and stay in the CMV industry,” said FMCSA Deputy Administrator Vinn White.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the FMCSA administrators and officials as they allocate funding to support highway safety and jobs.
- For U.S. transportation personnel as they seek ways to ensure supply chain resiliency.
