President’s Administration Sends Congress Ukraine War Strategy

The classified report arrives three months after the congressional deadline.

President Biden’s administration has reportedly sent a classified report to Congress this week outlining its strategy for the war in Ukraine, three months after the June deadline first set by Congress.

Congress has generally been supportive of sending U.S. funds to aid Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks to claim Ukrainian territory, which first began in 2022. But, after passing the most recent round of funding for Ukraine in April, allocating $61 billion of a $95 billion defense package for the cause, federal legislators also mandated that the president’s administration provide an outline of its strategy for the ongoing war, which it had yet to produce.

“Since the earliest days of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s war on Ukraine, we have asked the Biden-Harris Administration for a strategy on how the U.S. and our allies can help Ukraine win the war,” said Senator Jim Risch of Idaho, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “President Biden and VP Harris owe a strategy not just to us, but to the American people.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for members of Congress as they review the strategy of the president’s administration toward the Ukraine war.
  • For the president, vice president, and defense leaders as they assess the status of Ukraine’s defenses.
