DOJ Charges Hamas Leaders with Terrorism, Murder, and Sanctions Evasion

The charges were unsealed after the recent execution of six hostages in Gaza.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) unsealed charges of terrorism, murder conspiracy, and sanctions evasion against six leaders of Hamas this week, bringing forward its first legal action against the organization’s attack on Israel last year.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “On October 7th, Hamas terrorists, led by these defendants, murdered nearly 1200 people, including over 40 Americans, and kidnapped hundreds of civilians. This weekend, we learned that Hamas murdered an additional six people they had kidnapped and held captive for nearly a year.”

The ruling party of Gaza has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States since 1997, but the October 7 attack was the most violent attack Hamas has made to date.

“The charges unsealed today are just one part of our effort to target every aspect of Hamas’ operations,” said AG Garland. “These actions will not be our last.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Attorney General Garland as the Justice Department prepares charges against Hamas terrorists.
  • For DOJ and other federal law enforcement officials as they seek to uphold American laws.
