DOJ indicts two employees for conspiracy to commit money laundering and violate FARA.
The Department of Justice announced indictments against two employees of the Russian state media network RT on charges of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
The department stated, “Over at least the past year, RT and its employees… deployed nearly $10 million to covertly finance and direct a Tennessee-based online content creation company. In turn, [the company] published English-language videos on multiple social media channels, including TikTok, Instagram, X, and YouTube.“
The agency explained that, since the public launch late last year, “Nearly 2,000 videos… have garnered more than 16 million views on YouTube alone. Many of the videos posted by U.S. Company-1 contain commentary on events and issues in the U.S., such as immigration, inflation, and other topics related to domestic and foreign policy. While the views expressed in the videos are not uniform, most are directed to the publicly stated goals of the Government of Russia and RT — to amplify domestic divisions in the United States.“
The Departments of Treasury and State have also announced actions directed at RT for attempts to increase political divisions in the U.S. and weaken support for Ukraine.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For administration officials as they seek to reduce the ability of foreign governments to influence U.S. elections and politics.
- For Attorney General Garland and Secretaries Blinken and Yellen to look to God for direction in their roles.
- For prudence for U.S. voters as they consume information regarding issues and positions.
