DOE Reports Clean Energy Industry Jobs Rate Doubled in 2023

The sector grew by 4 percent compared to 2 percent for overall U.S. jobs.

The Department of Energy (DOE) reported that jobs in the U.S. clean energy sector grew at double the rate of overall U.S. jobs, increasing by 4.2 percent in 2023 compared to 2 percent overall growth that year. This represents an increase of 142,000 jobs last year in the renewable energy sector, which includes wind, solar, nuclear, and battery storage, over half of the jobs within the energy industry as a whole.

Construction jobs in clean energy, driven by both the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, and paired with private-sector investments, “is expected to continue for decades to build out the clean energy infrastructure that we need,” said Betony Jones, the Energy Department’s head of energy jobs.

Energy Secretary Granholm stated that the data shows that “clean energy means jobs.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Director Jones as she heads the Office of Energy Jobs.
  • For Secretary Granholm to be led by the Lord as she oversees the Department of Energy.
