OSHA Opens Investigation After Delta Airlines Workplace Deaths

Two workers were killed and one seriously injured after a plane tire explosion.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) opened an investigation into Delta Airlines after an aircraft tire explosion killed two maintenance workers this past week.

The incident occurred in the early morning on Tuesday at the Delta facility near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Wheel components were being disassembled from a plane for maintenance. While the wheel was detached from the plane, the tire exploded, killing two and gravely injuring one other worker. Flight schedules were not affected, but several fire units and police squads responded to the emergency.

“This news is heartbreaking for all of us,” Delta stated. “We are now working with local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine what happened.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Assistant Secretary Doug Parker as he heads the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • For U.S. labor and transportation officials as they seek to ensure they seek to ensure the safety of workers.
