Defense Department Awards Oak Harbor Public Schools $66 Million

The funding will update facilities at two schools near Naval Air Station.

The Department of Defense granted two awards worth $66 million to Oak Harbor Public Schools, allowing them to update and expand their facilities.

The department stated, “These projects will address facility capacity and condition deficiencies that placed Hand in Hand Learning Center as the 49th school and Crescent Harbor Elementary School as the 41st school on the 2019 Deputy Secretary of Defense ‘Public Schools on Military Installations Priority List.’”

Oak Harbor Public Schools serve the children of military members stationed at the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island, Washington. Representatives from each faction of the military reviewed the school project before its approval, ensuring that the funding would appropriately address the shortcomings of each building.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Austin to receive God’s wisdom as he oversees the Department of Defense.
  • For military officials as they seek to ensure the public school buildings are adequately maintained for service members’ children.
