Additional National Prayer Needs
Pray for America’s Military
The Merchant Marines, who man supply ships and oilers to support the U.S. Navy, is facing a crew shortage. The organization has sidelined 17 support ships it cannot operate due to the shortage. The Pew Research Center reports that just 23 percent of young adults qualify for military service, and the active-duty U.S. force is the smallest it has been since 1940.
Pray for U.S. military leaders and advisors as they assess the available active-duty service members for deployment.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said he will be presenting a plan to President Biden on ending the war with Russia. He said that the war would end in a dialogue with Russia. Ukraine has continued its attack on the Kursk region of Russia for three weeks.
For U.S. and allied officials as they evaluate the support Ukraine continues to request.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
Ceasefire negotiations regarding Israel’s war with Hamas have continued in Egypt even as Israel and Hezbollah continue to fight. The Israelis released another hostage from a Hamas tunnel in Gaza this week. Details of the plan, including the release of hostages held by Hamas and the release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel, are still being discussed.
Pray for U.S., Israeli, and Middle Eastern diplomats as they negotiate the details of a ceasefire.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
The Department of Health and Human Services’ National Toxicology Program released a report linking fluoride above the 0.7 milligrams per liter in drinking water to lower IQs in children. That limit has been a standard from federal health officials since 2015. The World Health Organization has reportedly accepted 1.5 as a safe limit globally. Data from studies in Canada, China, India, Iran, Mexico, and Pakistan were referenced in the report.
Pray for U.S. health officials as they assess the safety of drinking water and the impact of fluoride and other chemicals on public health.
Pray for Needs Across the States
The North Dakota Secretary of State approved a ballot measure that will offer the state’s voters the opportunity to ban property taxes. Under the proposal, the state would provide cities and counties the equivalent amounts that were levied in 2024.
The Georgia State Election Board has approved a rule that allows local election officials to conduct a “reasonable inquiry that the tabulation and canvassing of the election are complete and accurate and that the results are a true and accurate accounting of all votes cast in that election” before the results are certified.
Pray for state leaders to be discerning as they propose changes to election rules and tax structures.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
“First Samuel 3 is about the kind of leader that Israel longs for, that we long for! And the kind of leader that we need. And so in the opening 16 chapters of First Samuel, what God does is He sets up a contrast for them between the king that they think they want and the king that they actually need. The focus is on the kind of shepherd God wants to provide for His people. … God seeks surrendered vessels, not gifted ones.“ – Pastor J.D. Greear, Summit Life, August 2024
