Issue 662 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan visited China this week, to meet with Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two officials discussed foreign policy and common areas of concern. The administration would like the trip to provide a foundation for another summit between President Biden and President Xi before the end of the U.S. president’s term.

Pray for the president, vice president, and members of the Cabinet as they address concerns in the U.S. relationship with China.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senators Mark Warner of Virginia and James Lankford of Oklahoma cosponsored a bill to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure and sensitive data. The Federal Contractor Cybersecurity Vulnerability Reduction Act of 2024 seeks to prevent federal data breaches and cyber threats, which Senator Lankford said are frequent targets of hackers.

Pray for congressional leaders and legislative officials as they review the efficacy of tax reduction bills to stimulate the economy.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer and Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Subcommittee Chair Nancy Mace sent a letter to the president of National Public Data regarding the cyberattack that exposed the private data of millions of Americans. In their letter, the legislators requested a briefing from the background check executive regarding the incident.

Pray for the chairs and members of congressional committees as they investigate private sector lapses in cyber security.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A panel from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the state of Florida may enforce its ban on transgender interventions on minors. The state law prohibits minors from receiving puberty blockers and hormone treatments with or without parental consent.

Pray for federal judges across the U.S. as they hear and decide cases that involve transgender issues and children.
