Labor Department Allocates $2 Million to Training Hurricane Beryl Clean-up Workers

Emergency grant funding approved for 67 counties in Texas

The Department of Labor has distributed an initial $2 million in emergency funding to train workers helping to clean up Texas in the wake of Hurricane Beryl.

“Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, the National Dislocated Worker Grant of up to $16,093,393 allows the Texas Workforce Commission to provide people with temporary cleanup and recovery jobs,” the Labor Department stated. “The grant will also enable the state to provide those in the affected communities with training and services.”

The $2 million is being distributed to the 67 counties most impacted by the Category 1 hurricane, allowing workers whose jobs were impacted by the disaster to temporarily find new employment in hurricane recovery jobs.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Secretary Julie Su to be led by the Lord as she oversees the Labor Department.
  • For wisdom for Labor Department officials as they allocate funding for employment opportunities.
