Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Energy posted its much-contested final rule regulating gas stoves to the Federal Register to be implemented in 2028. The department maintained that opposing comments “do not provide a reasonable basis for withdrawing the direct final rule.”
Pray for U.S. environmental and energy officials as they propose and finalize regulations on consumer items.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York stated at the Democratic National Convention that he will not extend caps on state and local tax deductions that will expire next year. The so-called SALT deductions were implemented under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 during President Trump’s administration.
Pray for congressional leaders and legislative officials as they review the efficacy of tax reduction bills to stimulate the economy.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Oversight Committee, House Judiciary Committee, and House Ways and Means Committee released a 293-page report on the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden. The report states, “The totality of the corrupt conduct uncovered by the Committees is egregious.” The committees found the president “conspired to commit influence peddling and grift“ and lied about his abuse of office.
Pray for the chairs and members of congressional committees as they investigate federal agencies and officials.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court has received a request from the Arizona legislature to stay the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals’ decision so that the state may require proof of citizenship for voters in the 2024 election.
Pray for the justices of the Supreme Court to be discerning as they field requests for injunctions and stays during the summer recess.
