National Public Data Confirms Massive Data Breach

Hackers steal personal data of nearly 3 billion people, including U.S. Social Security numbers.

The background check company National Public Data (NPD) is the focus of a class action lawsuit after a data breach by hackers. The Florida company has confirmed that the cybercriminal group, USDoD, “was trying to hack into data in late December 2023, with potential leaks of certain data in April 2024 and summer 2024.”

The lawsuit was filed in the Southern Florida U.S. District Court over the personal data breach that dates back at least three decades. NPD stated that it has “implemented additional security measures in efforts to prevent the reoccurrence of such a breach and to protect our systems” and continues to cooperate with investigators.

Cyber security officials recommend freezing credit reports and closely monitoring financial accounts for unauthorized activity.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the judge to be discerning as he hears the class action suit against the company for the security breach.
  • For U.S. cyber security officials as they promote cyber data security measures in both the public and private sectors.
  • For company executives to prioritize cyber security and protect consumers’ sensitive personal information.
