Dimitri Simes is a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Moscow.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided and searched the Virginia home of Dimitri Simes. The Russian-American citizen served as an advisor for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He was named in the Mueller report on Russian interference but cleared of any wrongdoing.
Simes was not at home at the time of the search and believes the move “clearly is an attempt to intimidate, not only somebody from Russia, but just anyone who goes against official policies and particularly against the deep state.” He thinks, “Their real purpose is to make sure that I would not come back.”
The FBI stated, “The FBI conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity. We have no further comment as this is an ongoing matter.”
