Defense Under Secretary Emphasizes Partnerships with Technology Professionals

White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director joins the discussion about technologies for national security.

Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Heidi Shyu spoke at a defense conference in Washington, highlighting the Pentagon’s technology internship program as a way to offer new opportunities to young professionals.

“You know, there are amazing people out there who really want to do big things,” Under Secretary Shyu said. “They want to serve their country. The single most attractive thing we can do is to be doing work that is so dazzling and so impactful that people actually want to run into these public service jobs.” She went on how crucial technological development is to contribute to the mission of the Defense Department.

White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Arati Prabhakar, who joined the defense under secretary, stated that these contributions are critical “in a time when many of the same technologies that we need for national security and for all kinds of public purposes are the same technologies that have dazzling commercial prospects.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary Shyu to be discerning as she heads the Defense Office of Research and Engineering.
  • For Director Prabhakar to seek God as she oversees the White House Office of Science and Technology.
  • For Pentagon officials as they promote the technology intern program.
