The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released its first proposal for regulations on robocalls and robotexts generated by artificial intelligence.
Following closely on the heels of the commission’s political ad AI disclosure requirement, which a U.S. Senate committee supported, this rule seeks to define AI-generated calls, mandate transparency for such calls and texts, and shield consumers from AI robocalls.
The FCC stated it seeks to provide “consumers with an opportunity to identify and avoid those calls or texts that contain an enhanced risk of fraud and other scams.” The commission is also looking into how to ensure AI technology is used in beneficial ways, such as communication assistance for the disabled.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Chair Jessica Rosenworcel to receive God’s guidance as the FCC receives input on the proposal.
- For U.S. communication officials and experts as they provide suggestions and recommendations to the FCC on AI-generated robocalls and robotexts.
- For the president, vice president, and members of the administration to seek the Lord as they work on policies surrounding artificial intelligence.
