The distribution was made from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) the distribution of $325 million for state conservation assistance in all states and territories. This is the largest release of annual funding through the department’s Land and Water Conservation Fund since it was first created in 1979. Acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis made the announcement at Arizona’s Sundance Park, which received $3 million from the grant program for the 2021 fiscal year.
“The Biden-Harris administration is deeply committed to ensuring that all Americans, no matter where they live or how much money they earn, can enjoy the outdoors,” said Acting Deputy Secretary Daniel-Davis. “The Land and Water Conservation Fund is helping us deliver on that commitment through locally-led and community-driven projects that are creating greener neighborhoods, more recreational opportunities, and improved access to nature.”
