Energy Department Distributes $85 Million to Domestic Heat Pump Manufacturers

Four manufacturers were selected to receive funding, accelerating production.

The Department of Energy (DOE) distributed $85 million to four heat pump manufacturers in New York, Tennessee, Texas, and Rhode Island to accelerate the production of electric heat pumps and their components. According to the department, heating and cooling all of America’s buildings accounts for more than 35 percent of all U.S. energy consumption and gas emissions. Officials estimate the use of electricity-powered heat pumps can cut these emissions in half.

“Extreme weather events are harming our grid and serving as a primary driver of higher electricity bills, underscoring the need to increase access to energy-efficient technologies,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “The Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda is manufacturing hundreds of thousands of energy-saving heat pumps here in the USA, helping American households and businesses keep money in their pockets all while strengthening our national security and creating good-paying jobs.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. energy officials as they pursue the reduction of emissions and energy consumption.
  • For Secretary Granholm to be prudent in her oversight of her department and its policies.
