Housing and Urban Development Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman announced continued financing for Maui County residents for home reconstruction through the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) Mortgage Insurance for Disaster Victims.
This week marks one year since the wildfire tragedy in Maui and the department’s actions are intended to assist in the recovery of survivors and the community. The FHA has again extended its foreclosure moratorium for single-family borrowers with FHA-insured mortgages.
“We remain committed to doing all that we can to help residents of Maui County recover from the 2023 wildfires,” said Federal Housing Commissioner Julia Gordon. “Extending the time to use FHA financing for rebuilding, in addition to extending our foreclosure moratorium, reflects our strong desire to continue helping families trying to rebuild their lives after this uniquely catastrophic event.”
