DHS Offers Human Trafficking Recognition Course for Lyft Drivers

The first-of-its-kind tutorial is available within Lyft’s driver-only app.

The Department of Homeland Security announced a collaboration with Lyft driving services, launching a tutorial program within Lyft’s driver-only app to teach its drivers how to identify and prevent human trafficking.

The transportation of victims is a crucial part of human trafficking operations and is the most opportune time to spot the crime as it happens. This first-of-its-kind in-app tutorial teaches Lyft drivers how to detect potential victims, which authorities to contact if there’s any suspicion, as well as how drivers can offer assistance to potential victims in the moment.

“By partnering with key private sector leaders like Lyft – whose drivers interact with millions of riders every year – we are better able to shine a light on this heinous crime,” said Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “I am grateful for Lyft’s continued commitment to combating the scourge of human trafficking and encourage other stakeholders to join us in this critical work.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Mayorkas as he heads the Department of Homeland Security.
  • For DHS officials as they promote the trafficking awareness resource to Lyft drivers.
  • For federal agents and investigators as they seek to break up human trafficking rings and free victims.
