She wrote to the federal agency about the audits that produced no enforcement actions.
Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington, the chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, recently sent a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) asking whether the agency has enabled Boeing’s ongoing manufacturing issues.
She wrote, “While the FAA has rightly focused on Boeing’s production quality shortcomings, I am concerned about whether FAA action – or inaction – contributed to Boeing’s problems.”
Senator Cantwell went on to point out that the FAA disclosed in April that it had conducted a combined total of 298 audits of Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems over the last two years, none of which resulted “in any enforcement actions.”
FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker previously admitted to the Senate Commerce Committee in June that the FAA was “too hands off” with Boeing oversight, and pledged appropriate enforcement action in the future.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senator Cantwell and members of the Commerce Committee as they seek to ensure adequate government oversight for the safety of air travel.
- For Administrator Whitaker and FAA personnel as they work to rectify their agency’s deficiencies in enforcement actions.
