Ronald Rowe
Acting Director, U.S. Secret Service
Ronald L. Rowe, Jr. earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a master of science from Lynn University. He also completed the Homeland Defense and Security Executive Leaders Program at the Naval Postgraduate School.
Rowe has worked in the Secret Service since 1999. He has served as a National Security and Law Enforcement policy advisor and helped the National Security Council prepare strategies for the president to address economic espionage and the theft of intellectual property. He served on the presidential protective detail from 2004 to 2008. He later served on the staff of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Rowe has held multiple executive roles in the Secret Service and served as a liaison between the agency and other federal departments as well as Congress. Rowe became acting director of the Secret Service after former Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned due to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Deputy Director of the Secret Service Ronald Rowe stated, upon assuming the role of acting director, “We will rebuild the American public’s trust and confidence, as well as the trust placed in us to protect them.“
Acting Director Rowe testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees this week regarding the security failures of his service to protect the former president. He stated, “What I saw made me ashamed. As a career law enforcement officer and a 25-year veteran with the Secret Service, I cannot defend why that roof was not better secured.”
“We were told that building was going to be covered,” the acting director said. “I could not, and I will not, and I cannot understand why there was not better coverage or at least somebody looking at that roof line when that’s where they were posted.”
