U.S. Embassy Advises Americans to Leave Lebanon

The embassy tells U.S. citizens to “create a crisis plan of action.”

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut urged American citizens to leave the country of Lebanon, just one day before its southern neighbor Israel launched an airstrike near the city on Tuesday.

“We recommend U.S. citizens develop a crisis plan of action and leave before a crisis begins. Regularly scheduled transportation is always the best option while local communications and transportation infrastructure are still intact and operating normally,” said Rena Bitter, assistant secretary for consular affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.

Tensions between Israel and the Lebanese political party Hezbollah have run high for some time and escalated when Israel invaded Gaza following the Hamas attack on October 7.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for State Department officials as they assess international dangers to U.S. citizens.
  • For Americans abroad to be discerning regarding the political situations of the nations they are in.
