DOE Invests in Auto Manufacturing Facility Rehabilitation

Will convert 11 facilities into electric vehicle manufacturing plants

The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded $1.7 billion to rehabilitate 11 shuttered auto manufacturing facilities into fully functioning electric vehicle assembly plants. When opened, these facilities, located across eight states, will add a total of 2,900 new jobs to their communities and employ over 15,000 manufacturers.

“There is nothing harder to a manufacturing community than to lose jobs to foreign competition and a changing industry,” said Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “Even as our competitors invest heavily in electric vehicles, these grants ensure that our automotive industry stays competitive—and does it in the communities and with the workforce that have supported the auto industry for generations.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Granholm to be prudent as she manages the Department of Energy.
  • For the recipients of the investment to utilize the funding effectively and efficiently.
  • For the president and officials in his administration as they prioritize electric vehicle production.
