The letter was sent before the Israeli prime minister addressed the joint session of Congress.
President Joe Biden received a letter from seven major labor unions on Tuesday that asked him to “immediately halt all military aid to Israel.” The unions expressed concerns about the lack of action on a ceasefire in Gaza.
The union leaders wrote, “The time to act decisively to end this war is now. Stopping US military aid to Israel is the quickest and most sure way to do so, it is what U.S. law demands, and it will show your commitment to securing a lasting peace in the region.”
The letter referenced stories from Palestinian trade unions regarding the working conditions of people in Gaza and the numerous fatalities in the region from U.S.-made weapons. The labor unions have supported and promoted a ceasefire for months.
