After Director Cheatle’s inability to answer questions before the House committee Monday, a move for an impeachment vote was made.
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned her position on Tuesday after appearing before the House Oversight Committee the previous day. Legislators questioned her inability to respond to their concerns over the assassination attempt against former President Trump and the bipartisan calls for her resignation were mentioned repeatedly. Monday evening, Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina moved to force a vote of impeachment against the Secret Service Director.
President Joe Biden responded to Director Cheatle’s resignation, stating, “Jill and I are grateful to Director Kim Cheatle for her decades of public service. She has selflessly dedicated and risked her life to protect our nation throughout her career in the United States Secret Service. We especially thank her for answering the call to lead the Secret Service during our Administration, and we are grateful for her service to our family.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Cheatle as she steps down as head of the Secret Service.
- For federal officials as they investigate the agency’s failures to protect President Trump.
- For President Biden and his advisors as they consider replacements to lead the Secret Service.
