Treasury Department Sanctions Tijuana-Based Human Smuggling Organization

The Abdul Karim Conteh group was sanctioned for violating U.S. immigration law.

The Department of the Treasury sanctioned the Abdul Karim Conteh Human Smuggling Organization (Karim HSO) this past week, implementing the financial strategy to curb dangerous illegal immigration tactics. The smuggling organization preys on desperate migrants who want to enter the U.S. or other nations, charging them thousands of U.S. dollars to transport them over the border. These human traffickers make enormous profits while putting migrants in life-threatening situations.

“Today’s action, in close partnership with our U.S. and international partners, disrupts the ability of those seeking to exploit and endanger desperate individuals in search of a better life for themselves and their loved ones,” said Under Secretary Brian Nelson. “Treasury, as part of the Administration’s effort to address the crisis on our Southwest border, remains committed to using our tools to degrade the ability of groups like the Karim HSO to engage in these illicit operations.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Under Secretary Nelson as he assesses the placement of sanctions in an attempt to curtail the human smuggling operations.
  • For Secretary Yellen and other officials in the Treasury Department as they explore ways to address America’s immigration crisis.
  • That members of the president’s administration would uphold federal laws regarding border security and immigration.
